Oxy-Yan "Neutrons"
Dutch producer Oxy-Yan expands the musical horizons for the always-restless Highlands Music with two tracks of tasteful breaks and expansive left field sounds with psy influences that are modern, fresh, and unlike anything else out right now.
The title track, Neutrons, is an eclectic mix of elements – breaks, electro, psy trance, and progressive.
"Neutrons" dodges the yoke of a simple genre tag and sounds like the kind of sleek electro the Dutch have perfected over the years with a few touch-ups here in there to give it a 2011 kick. The track is rich in melody and tasteful musical progressions that feel natural making it perfect for many different kinds of DJ sets.
“Northern Lights” is a chilled-out ambient track filled with gorgeous melody and simple, expressive elements that glide effortlessly over the subtle beats. It is perfect for home consumption or as a laid back end-of-night closer. Regardless of venue, this track demands a proper listen for maximum satisfaction.

Vladimir Alykov "Pebbles & Puddles
Emerging Danish producer Vladimir Alykov offers up two challenging tech-house originals that showcase his unique sound and that of the ever-evolving Highlands Music label.
“Pebbles” is a moody, driving floor-filler with cutting-edge melodies that are as fresh as a thin new fallen snow. Rolling drums, chunky bass line, and a housey vocal snippet gives the track a warm, funky feel that offsets the icy melodic elements that drive it. The result is the rare cut pushing the genre in exciting new directions.
The second original, “Puddles”, is shuffling tribal house cut that is powered by big room adrenaline but shows a minimal restraint that allows the track to build a subtle way that focuses on its deepness. The melodies are much less pronounced than the ones on “Pebbles” with a shift of focus to trackier tool precision for the B-side rather than A-side hooks.

Standout Canadian newcomer Wirik has made a splash in the past year with a string of acclaimed releases on Team, Cueplay, 530Techno, Harmonious Discord, Parity, and now Highlands Music. The enigmatic producer is gaining prominence with a unique mix of ambient, IDM, and fringe techno that defies easy comparisons. For his Highlands Music debut he unleashes two blasts of leftfield sorcery.
“Upstairs” is a mid-tempo clanger with a nice techno feel but is also chained to a quirky organic groove. The technique captures the attention as the track builds to a psychedelic breakdown that bends the traditions of music. It’s daring, partly experimental, and a perfect addition to a sprawling psy chill afterhours set.
“Land Forms” explores Wirik’s ongoing obsession with post dubstep sounds and the possibility of musical exchange between bass and techno. The result is part Detroit and part Bristol and highly futuristic with jarring sounds and crisp production.

Additional elements include subdued shakers for texture and the faintest of melodies for a nice layered effect.
On the b-side, "Spooky Road" starts out right away with a chunky house bass line flying its funk flag. The track slowly and dramatically crescendos before reaching a subtle climax and progressing in to a steady deep house groover that feeds the dance floor. The track is uncomplicated with out being simplistic with the gentle background melodies that are a trademark of the label giving it a rich, luxurious feel.

Space Kundun "Datura"
Space Kundun started as an underground DJ at goa and psy trance parties around Israel. As a renown resident DJ for Grasshopper in Haifa, he spins psy chill and ambient tunes. Space Kundun was born as an alter-ego during his audio studies at SAE (School of Audio Engineers) Amsterdam along with collaborator Hasan Ismail AKA rastAsia, also an SAE graduate.
"We've experimented some recordings using various acoustic instruments to give it a human feel, and decided to make some tunes out of it.", says Gaas.
Space Kundan delivers exciting blend of synthesizers, sequencers, and live instruments with the textured layers found in all great downtempo and chill out music.

Eventual Groove "Zhelaniya"
Russian producer Eventual Groove returns to Highlands Music with a two tracker of musically unique goods that defy simple genre distinctions.
The title track is a mix of chillout vibes, strong melodies, and tasty psy-breaks. There is also a nice organic element found in squawking organ that recalls the downtempo lounge sounds of the late Nineties.
“Snow Swing” is a cheeky drum & bass inspired cut that swings with a sweet retro lounge feel. Again, an organ stab is prominently featured as the talented young producer shows off his musical range. A wicky-wacky wah-wah’d guitar holds down the hook for a fun, pop music dynamic rarely found in electronic music these days.
